Poster design for the Dawson College Vernissage contest. The concept behind this poster is that design must come from your inner self. I’ve noticed countless students appreciating other works and really focusing on them, or rather pin-pointing specific aspects of projects that they see and deciding that they want to incorporate or adapt similar methods.

It’s natural, it’s human, we see things we like and we want to do them, too.

But the problem is, we bust our brains to make these set ideas work; but they never will. Each project is its own, and you cannot adapt projects to methods, methods must mold to the projects. Our best and inner-most potential can only arise when our work comes from the soul, not your brain. Your likes and dislikes change so frequently, but you are you, forever. So as designers, we must learn to design from the heart, not from intellect.

The auto-generative aspect of the image composition is meant to signify that when things are left to chance, or intuition so to speak, beautiful results can be achieved without thinking too hard about what you’re doing.
