The highly conceptual process began with 4 blank boards and 10 sharpies, which were left in a high traffic public area, along with a note to ‘draw on me’, encouraging various degrees of artistic expression. People were keen on participating, and within 24 hours, 20 boards were full of doodles and designs.
The concept reflected the changing landscape of design, and how we must not only design at an audience, but with them as well. Interactivity, play, and reciprocal communication are all essential in creating a unique design that speaks to the target audience. The chosen copy, ‘marked’, reflected our journey through the design program, receiving marks on our work, putting our mark on the world, and being marked and inspired by everything around us (which is reflected in our design).
