While Westward Winter Wanes
A book cover illustration based off of a sentence written solely with the letter ‘W’ which goes as such; “Warblers whistle through willows weeping watercolour, while westward wildfires wreck woodlands where winter wanes and white wolves wander”. This project involved a lot of brainstorming and exploration with multiple materials such as paint, ink, pencil, charcoal, tissue paper and textured scrapbooking paper. Photoshop was then used to meld together each chosen element into one cohesive book cover.
To achieve this book cover design, I created a sentence that would give a mood and storyline to my illustrations. Thus, visuals emerged in a contrasting fashion showing a progression from the easy and positive to the dark and destructive. This design’s intention is to create a mounting sense of interest and curiosity for the novel’s content as more of the cover is revealed.
